About Me
I am a Writer, Photographer, Genealogist, Daughter of The American Revolution. I enjoy a variety of outdoor sports including climbing, skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding and scuba. Living in Colorado allows me to pursue these activities, while scuba gives me a good excuse to travel. Since the state is rather land locked.
Writing and photography have been my tools of painting with words and silently with a camera, a world so vivid with beauty and steeped in history, yet so full of conflict I take to my keyboard, as I rise high up in the Rocky Mountains on horseback to see and be places that inspire me. Writing does just that. It inspires me.
I tend towards political thinking, as I was a intern for a Congressman when that was a respectable thing to be. (Thank you note to Miss Lewinsky) I learned much while living in D.C. and have a realistic viewpoint, which never escapes my writing, nor my humor as it applies each to the same. It has been said that some of the women in my family have a tongue that could clip a hedge. I proudly carry on that tradition holding my head high.
Blogging is a fine tool to use to keep the flow of ideas going. Listening is by fair a favorite skill which allows others the room they need to express themselves and for me to write down not my impressions, but what they actually said. I follow the writing of Marcus Aurelius, and in particular one quote of his philosophy, "If it is not right, do not do it, If it is not true, do not say it."
Seriousness aside, I snap pictures like the paparazzi! My nickname is Hummingbird and I love to cuddle in front of a mountain fire and read and write. I adore my children, no actually, worship the air they breathe and the ground they walk on. I am counting that they never read this and learn how much power over my heart they actually have. But my poetry and children's stories always speak in volumes of my love for them, and I believe they are good at deciphering it. My Father wrote poetry and music when he was alive. He is a great inspriation as well.
My work as a genealogist has helped me connect with the past and that past to connect to me. I know who I am. Who my people are, and were, and the parts they played in Scottish, Irish, English, French and American History. A dear friend of mine who is Cherokee once told me that, "it is our responsibility to learn our past and then learn to forgive ourselves for it." Thank you Fiera Tenkiller. Osiyo Oginali.
In closing I hope to continue my growth as a writer and photograher, artist, but most importantly, a human being on this one planet, our home. Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 2 Comments
